Grants are now available through the National Historical Publications and Records Commission under NARA to support the following initiatives:
- Archival Projects
- Discovery and Access to Congressional Records Collections
- Capacity Building for Historically Black Colleges and Universities Archives
- Publishing Historical Records in Collaborative Digital Editions
The funding for the four grants is centered on a unified objective, with each grant approaching this goal from a unique angle. This year’s NHPRC grants continue to prioritize enhancing access to, and the utilization of, historical collections. The grants may be applied to a range of activities including professional development, reaching production targets through such tasks as arranging, rehousing, describing, and improving online accessibility. Additionally, the grant reviewal committee has announced that they will prioritize collaborative initiatives that branch multiple institutions and collections.
The last day for draft submissions is August 15th with the final deadline being November 7th for full proposals. Complete details can be found on the National Archives website.
Backstage’s Approach to Collection Processing
We are a service solution provider and it’s been our continuing mission to develop and provide different processing options for collection management projects. Our goal is to collaborate on a portion or whole of your processing objectives, meeting the unique needs of your collection with a custom touch.
- Collection consultations provide a foundational understanding of your collection’s breadth and scope ahead of formal arrangement and digitization. We rely on an in-person review by our expert team to evaluate a statistical sample of your collection.
- Our Digitization team specializes in hand-placed, high-quality digitization of nearly all media formats, save audio/visual. While we can digitize loose, bound, and oversized papers, our team is especially qualified to manage scrapbooks, and the ephemera common in archival collections.
If you’d like to learn more about our archival processing team, on-site capabilities, or digitization workflow, please contact us. Our team is here to help with project planning and pricing as you prepare your grant applications. We can be contacted directly for quote requests or through GSA under contract number 47QSMA22D08Q2.
